About the role:
The Senior Systems Engineer is an exceptionally varied role, working closely with the Programme Manager, marketing personnel and other stakeholders.
The key functions of the role are to capture product and/or product elements requirements for a complex system, to partition them into an optimal architecture, taking technical and commercial constraints into account, and then to ensure the architecture is implemented in the subsequent design.
The incumbent will be primarily responsible for the systems engineering of vehicle-mounted and hand-portable radio terminals, as part of communications solutions for public safety, utilities and transport customers. He/she will also lead a small team of systems engineers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of all of the systems engineering aspects of the product development in progress.
- Lead the team in elaborating the system design, as well as directly contributing to this design yourself.
- Manage and contribute to the planning and execution of system integration phases, internal field trials and customer field trials during the product development.
- Ongoing review of system design parameters and product key performance indicators during the development phase.
- Manage system related change during the development phase of the product.
About you:
- Excellent working knowledge of the systems engineering process
- Experience with radio systems both at an implementation and system level
- Experience in more than one development discipline
- Confidence with wireless communication protocols
- Experience in leading a small team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good people skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Holistic approach to project work
