Senior Sales Engineer

About the role

This Melbourne based role is the primary technical interface on Sales and Services opportunities coordinating the activities of internal and external suppliers to provide customer specific technical support.

Functional Outcomes

Sales Support

Contribute to the design, development, recommendations for sales opportunities that:

  • Assists sales employees to achieve their sales targets and objectives;
  • Provides customers with an appropriate understanding of the value proposition of our proposal through written and verbal presentations and meetings;
  • Ensure quality and excellence standards of Tait are achieved;
  • Identifies further business opportunities for Tait;
  • Ensures that proposals meet Tait's guidelines for acceptable margin;
  • Own the activities and deliverables for assigned opportunities;
  • Provide technical review, qualification and support for leads and opportunities.

Regional Preferred Partnership Management

Contribute to the exploration, identification, engagement and management of preferred partners to ensure that we:

  • Fully realise all sales opportunities;
  • Minimise Tait resource capability costs;
  • Deliver optimum quality solutions.

Contract and Risk Management

Contribute to and Implement processes and practices for contract and risk management to ensure:

  • Risk for Tait opportunities is managed, reduced, minimised or eliminated;
  • Contract completion performance is clear and deliverable.

About you

You will have an extensive experience of radio communications technology, which preferably includes the deployment and use of Tait products and be capable of working autonomously in the role. With a close attention to detail and the ability to lead and direct functional or project teams, you are able to use your excellent communication and presentation skills to deliver complex and technical topics to a variety of customers with varying levels of technical familiarity.



  • Bachelor of Electrical or Computer Engineering (BE) or equivalent


  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in customer facing technical roles, ideally in Land Mobile Radio or similar technologies
  • At least five years' experience in a planning or technical design role
  • At least five years' experience responding to RFPs
